Removing Glitter – How to Remove Glitter Makeup Easily and Responsibly
Applying glitter makeup is fun, but what about removing it?
Luckily, removing glitter isn't difficult when you use the right products and a few tried-and-true tricks. At the same time, you can ensure that as little glitter as possible ends up in the environment.
How to Remove Glitter Makeup?
The best way to remove glitter makeup is to wipe it off with a makeup remover wipe or to use an oil-based makeup remover or another oil-containing cleansing product.
Oil helps to gently remove both the glitter and any adhesive without vigorous scrubbing.
Do this:
-
Moisten a cotton pad with oil-based makeup remover.
-
Press the cotton pad onto the glitter makeup for a moment.
-
Wipe the glitter away with calm strokes.
-
Repeat if necessary.
-
Finish the cleansing with your normal facial cleanser.
Glitter makeup applied with Glitter Primer or petroleum jelly usually comes off easily with oil-based cleansing.
Tape is Glitter's Best Friend
Sometimes the smallest flecks still seem to be on your face the next day.
In that case, ordinary tape can be helpful.
Lightly press the tape onto your skin and lift it off. Loose glitter will effectively stick to the tape without additional rubbing.
Tape also works excellently on:
-
Faces
-
Necks
-
Arms
-
Clothes
-
Tables
-
Floors
Many experienced glitter users consider a roll of tape as important a tool as the glitter itself.
Removing Glitter Tattoos
If you've used glitter glue to create a glitter tattoo, removal requires a little more patience.
The easiest way is to:
-
Moisten the area with oil-based makeup remover.
-
Allow the product to sit for a moment.
-
Wipe the tattoo off with a cotton pad.
-
Collect any remaining flecks with tape.
After a shower, the skin is often softer, which also makes removing glitter tattoos easier.
Removing Glitter from Hair
Glitter in hair and glitter beards usually comes off easily by brushing the hair or beard.
Glitter Belongs in the Trash, Not the Drain
This is the most important thing we hope every glitter user remembers:
Glitter does not belong down the drain.
Always try to collect as much glitter as possible onto a cotton pad, cleansing wipe, or tape before washing your face.
When used cotton pads, cleansing wipes, and tape are put in the trash, significantly less glitter ends up in waterways.
A little effort during removal makes a big difference.
