From furniture designer to glitter queen
Glitternisti was not born from a business plan, market research, or in an investor's boardroom. It was born from parties and the need to save the festival and party makeup of an unskilled makeup artist!
In 2016, Glitternisti's founder, Tiina, ordered cosmetic glitter online just for her own pleasure. She went to parties with glitter on her face, and repeatedly people stopped to ask, "What is that lovely thing on your face? Can you put some on me too?"
At some point, one of Tiina's friends remarked:
"Tiina, maybe you should start selling glitter?"
The idea lingered. Soon after, Tiina sent a message to a casual acquaintance who was an event organizer and signed up for an event with a small selection of glitter. She arrived alone, hands trembling, and with no idea what the day would bring.
A queue formed at the gig. The Instagram account opened for Glitternisti had done its job, and the queue just grew.
Within a few months, Glitternisti was requested at events all over Finland. Tiina recruited her friends as freelance workers, opened her first online store, and began building a company that was never supposed to be a company.
A fun detail is that Tiina only studied to become a makeup artist a couple of years after she had already founded a makeup brand.
Life decided to write the story in a slightly different order. A furniture designer by profession ended up building Finland's first glitter-specialized company.

Glitter is just an excuse
Of course, we love glitter, but in the end, it's not about the glitter.
It's about the courage to try something new. It's about that feeling when a slightly more sparkling version of yourself looks back from the mirror. It's about not having to blend into the background at parties if you don't want to.
We believe that dazzling makeup is for everyone. Not just for professionals, performers, or those people who wake up in the morning with a perfect glitter eyeliner already done.
Most of our customers are ordinary people who want to look a little more like themselves on a special day. And sometimes that means glitter!
Glitter for events all over Finland
Over the years, Glitternisti has grown from a small glitter table to a nationwide event operator.
We offer glitter makeup, face gems, face flowers, hair decorations, glitter tattoos, braided hairstyles, face painting, and creative workshops for private and corporate events all over Finland.
We have been involved in festivals, corporate parties, weddings, bachelorette parties, birthdays, trade fairs, shopping malls, photo shoots, and many places we would never have imagined ending up.
Yes, that also includes a glitter station in a cinema toilet and a train's dining car.
Currently, the Glitternisti network includes over 40 event industry professionals across Finland.
That best moment
Even though the online store has grown, thousands of events have accumulated, and more glitter has been used than we dare to count, one thing hasn't changed.
We still love that moment when a customer looks in the mirror, smiles, and says:
"Wow. That looks good."
In that moment, it's not really about the glitter.
It's just an excuse.
